A:What is the proper way to handle a napkin at dinner?

A:宴会上使用餐巾的正确方法是什么?

B:Ordinarily,as soon as you are seated you put your napkin in your lap.At a formal dinner,however,you wait for your hostess to put hers on her lap first.Remove the napkin from the table,plate it on your lap,and unfold it as much as necessary with both hands.

B:通常情况下就座后就把餐巾搁在腿上。但是在正式的宴会上,你需要等到女主人先把餐巾搁在腿上。把餐巾从桌上拿下来,搁在腿上,用双手摊开至需要的大小。

A:Which glasses are used for which wines? Where are the glasses placed?

A:什么样的酒配什么样的杯子呢?酒杯又放在哪儿呢?

B:Sherry,which is served at room temperature,is poured into small,V shaped glasses.White wine,which is served well chilled,is poured into round bowled,stemmed glasses.

B:雪利酒,室温下喝,装在V形小杯子里。白葡萄酒,冰凉时喝,装在圆碗形带柄的酒杯中。

A:But in the United States,“seeing the bottom”of all the plates is the ideal ending to a meal.It means guests should eat up all the food to show that they have enjoyed it.

A:但是在美国,所有的盘子见了底才是最理想的结果。它意味着客人非常喜欢这顿饭。

B:Well,in my country it is a sign that the hosts have not prepared enough.

B:可是,在我国“见底”则标志主人准备不充足。
