A Christmas Card from Mom

My mother passed away last year on December sixteenth. She lived alone since myfather passed on three years before. Mom cherished living in her own home, whereshe and Dad shared forty eight years together. Staying there kept her memoriesof Dad alive.

Mom was alone late at night when she passed away, and we found her the next day.

My siblings and I were troubled by her unexpected death and by her being alonewhen she died. We felt like we’d failed her because we weren't there with her atthe end.

Two days after she passed away, my siblings and I received a Christmas card inthe mail. It was from our mom. In each one she wrote the name of her child andthat she loved them very, very much. It was like Mom was looking down fromHeaven, saying everything was all right, and letting us know not to worry aboutthings we couldn't change.
